Square Resource Guide
Everything you need to sell, price, and close Square deals — with step-by-step workflows and templates.
What Square is in the NextPay lineup
- If a merchant is already on Square: we can only convert them if they're on rack rate with another reseller — we convert them by switching them to cash discount at 4%.
- If a prospect is not on Square yet: They choose one of two pricing models (see below), sign up through that link, and get their account + application. No negotiation — the rate is the rate. 4% cash discount OR rack rate (IC+). During underwriting, they can request rates between 3-4% if needed.
Pricing models & hardware
Two processing options: Merchant chooses one model, signs up through that link, and completes their application there. See "Submit a Square deal" section for signup links.
| Processing rates (no negotiation) | |
| Cash Discount | 4% all-in (can request 3-4% during underwriting) |
| Rack Rate | Interchange-plus (IC+) |
| Hardware & software (see squareup.com/pricing for full list) | |
| Square Stand (POS system) | Free plan or Plus $49/mo |
| Square Register (full-featured POS) | Free plan or Plus $49/mo |
| Hardware options: Buy upfront OR finance monthly | |
| Square Terminal (all-in-one) | $299 upfront or monthly payment plan |
| Square Handheld (mobile reader) | $399 upfront or monthly payment plan |
| Square Reader (plug-in reader) | $59 upfront or monthly payment plan |
Important: Processing rates are fixed — no "meet or beat" negotiation. The rate is the rate.
Rate conversation — NO negotiation
Square rates are fixed and public. There is no "meet or beat" negotiation, no rate conversation, no playing with pricing. Merchant chooses: 4% cash discount OR rack rate (IC+). That's it. If they're already on Square, pitch converting them to cash discount at 4%.
Exception: During underwriting, rates between 3-4% can be requested — that's it. Keep this simple: tell them the rate, move on.
